The Hotel is in an old building that looks nicely maintained. There's a pub there, a coffee shop/cafe, and some nice outdoor patio/seating areas. There is no hotel staff on site. We did not receive the check in instructions before our arrival and had to scramble with help from the restaurant staff and a property manger for some apartments attached to the hotel to help us (the mix up may have been by the remote hotel management staff or and issue with Expedia messaging). The room was bleak, very inexpensive furniture and beds, with primer paint patches on a few walls and a 5 cm diameter hole in another. After placing the booking, the hotel had messaged us about street noise, particularly on the weekends. It would be nice if they let you know that before booking as if seems like the agreed upon smoking section was right below our room. We would not stay there again. It's a shame, because the property (other than the actual room) is pretty nice and it's a cute little town with a nice downtown and some decent restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The lack of staff on site is also an issue for us; one of the advantages of a hotel is having that support. Without it, you might as well find a short term rental.

The sofa bed was very uncomfortable. The room was so dim and it smelled weird.

Location can’t be beat, iconic and majestic views. Very fairly priced per night, however, logistically valet is a nightmare, takes forever to get car parked and retrieved, and service is truly lacking. Made a reservation for Zoe’s for lunch and table took 20 minutes to be ready, only for it to be for afternoon tea even though I explicitly stated we were there for regular lunch, and then the lunch itself took well over an hour to get served, with the waiter asking if I wanted it to be discounted (which I declined). The regular tours and unending events (weddings) don’t make this a restful stay. Just be aware of what you’re getting yourselves into!

The room was very clean. Continental breakfast was decent.

Excellent location just a short walking distance from Via Rail Station and OTrain direct line downtown. Staff should do more to encourage use of the OTrain. Very easy ticketing system and short ride to primary tourist destinations at Parliament and Rideau Stations. Friendly, helpful,staff.Loblaws grocery store about a kilometre away. Excellent breakfast buffet, could use a second waffle maker. Nice that we were permitted to store our bags for a few hours on our departure date for some last minute sightseeing. Don’t miss the Rideau Canal!
